Asymmetrical Glossary

From the cycle Atlas of Tectonic Landscapes
2024
3’26”

The video, created specifically for the exhibition, consists of 288 slides that depict the sensory line of the entire installation. Two juxtaposed images are separated by a gap. Asymmetrical similarities portray key themes of the "gap" image: the panes of history and ant hills, polarization and symbiosis, elemental monuments and the struggle for memory, the smoke of war and tactics of solidarity, overcoming bars and fences, queering and reinterpreting monuments, the mandorla and geometry, cruising and shelter, a fatal comet and a colorless rainbow, labyrinths and darkrooms, melancholy and tectonic plates.

Montage, collages, music: Sergey Shabohin

Pyramid of Alienation

From the cycle Practices of Subordination
2024

Model of a fragment of the darkroom space (resembling a confessional) with a glory hole in which a model of the archbishop's crosier is placed - a symbol of the power of the Orthodox patriarchate.

Idea, modeling: Sergey Shabohin. 3D modeling and printing: Roman Shabohin

The photograph shows a vagina-like cave – utrabata. This is a reference to the artist’s entirely grey studio in Poznań, which he named Gray Mandorla Studio after the burrow/shelter/den.
